Tiramisu Meltdown for Mother's Day

Had another chance to join FTF and FF, two weeks in a row and I'm not late :)

Photo below was given to my mom as a Mother's Day treat, she doesn't have anything in particular that she likes and as we weren't that prepared either, we just went with a cake - I guess no one really goes wrong with cakes as presents on occasions. We bought her a regular-sized Tiramisu Meltdown, it is a heavenly three-layer cake of choco chiffon and cream cheese filling, dappled with a hint of coffee liquor (lifted from Red Ribbon website); don't mind the candle, my son's sort of crazy about blowing candles so we do let him have his fun. A mom's got to do what she has to do, right?

Me loves coffee but I'm not that into rum (I think the liquor on the cake is rum, not sure though) so I have mix feelings about the cake. And yes, I'm posting about a Mother's Day delight after two months *grins*, a lazy bunny will always be a lazy bunny *tongue out*.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good Morning!

Dear you,

Hello! My day started with a blast *grins*, care to know why? I woke up earlier than usual as my son need to be in school earlier, as he left his linkages and he need to work on it before class starts. I did my usual routine, prepare breakfast, among other things, prep him up and send him to school. When it's all done and over with, I went online to check on stuff and do a little blogging if I can but I was distracted by the buzz that Google PR had an update. Bloggers are going gaga over it, it's the usual though, you win some, you loose some - some bloggers loose their PR or had a decrease while some earned their first and had jumps in numbers. So, the ever curious me, checked out Pud Blag ni Ako's pagerank, and it's the first time too, I started this blog in January but kept it a secret until March. I made it public, joined some memes, commented and received comments in return, had visitors and readers, it officially became a blog. And now three months later, drum roll please, I already have a PR 2. Yehey!

O di ba naman, success ang lola nyo. Wala lang gusto ko lang i-share :)

Lovelots,
The Happy Me

Nathaniel's

I've been inactive meme-wise, sorry, real life is sucking my energy, but I hope to get on the drill as soon as my body adapt to my recent schedule. I miss Weekend Eating and Yummy Sunday!

We went to Pampanga a few weeks back to look at a parcel of land that was being sold to my parents, the place was nice, but I still think that the owner's selling price is quite unreasonable *pouts*.

We passed by Nathaniel's in San Fernando, and of course, we all thought of one thing their famous Buco Pandan. We bought a big one plus an order of plain white and red puto (bilao) and a few orders of their Baked Mac and Lasagna (styrofoam). We were supposed to eat those at home but we got caught in traffic and it was nearing dinner time so we just all decided to eat it as we go. So no pics of the actual stuff that we bought, good thing I took a few snappies while waiting for my bro, he's the one who lined up in the counter.

Oh, as this was taken a few weeks ago, I kind of forgotten how much we paid, so again, no price list from me. Sorry!

Next time, I promise to take a pic :)

Dinner at Mang Inasal

Finally, I get to make a post for FTF and FF, let's give thee thanks to DepEd for the immediate suspension of classes :D

Me, my son and his dad had an early dinner at the nearby mall a week before the classes starts, let's just say it's our last attempt in a family bonding before we all get swallowed by the school year 2011. Photos below were a few in the last batch of pics, my digicam was able to take *sad face*

Anyway, we chose Mang Inasal as I recently acquired a few GC's from the said establishment courtesy of a friend, and who in their right mind will spend money when you can dine for free, right? Hahaha, yes, I'm turning into a tighter tightwad *tongue out*. The yellow one will get you a 1pc. Chicken Inasal (Paborito Meal 1), which comes with unlimited rice servings while the orange one will get you a Sulit Meal, a choice between 1 Sulit Chicken Inasal with rice and 1 Pork Inasal with rice. We used 4 GC's (2 yellow and 2 red ones), we had two orders of 1pc Chicken Inasal Pitso and two orders of 1pc Pork Inasal, we had Coke for our drinks and the seven scoops of ice cream for dessert, you can actually have the ice cream in different flavors but as my son preferred chocolates, he had it in a single flavor.

I still have a few GC's in my hand, but with school's hectic sched, I wonder when I'll be able to use it again.

Heads Up!

My son's classes started last Tuesday, June 14, and since then, I am a walking, talking zombie, I lack sleep for all the wrong reasons while I tried to be a doting mama to my boy. My son's in second grade already but as I transferred him to a new and nearer school, he's like starting anew, new school equals new environment, new set of friends, new teachers, new rules, new everything and he's learning his way one step at a time, I plan on backing him up until he can stand on his own feet again, it may take weeks to a month so regular updates on this blog and the others will likely be non-existent. I may have the chance to sneak in a post or two along the way but I'm not making a promise, I tend to break promises, as you may know *lol*. Anyway, I just wanna let everyone know.

Okay, about my recently-acquired habit/vice of posting pic and leaving a note saying I'll edit it in a later date, I'm really sorry about that, I wasn't really planning on running away on my responsibilities as a blogger, I really thought I can forced everything to work out but somewhere along the way, with unfinished posts and all, I realized I'm attempting the impossible. I'm really sorry for doing things half-baked *sigh*, but I really wish it's possible. Anyway, in case, I have the itch to post but I had to go in the middle of working on it, I do hope, you'll extend your patience and bear with me for a little while. But, I promise to try my best not do that anymore.

Me, living my life without a digital camera... it's suffocating and super boring. I really wish I am a billionaire so I can just snap a finger and everything I need and want will be delivered right at my feet *sigh*, that would be the life.

Roasted Cashew from Antipolo

I know that there are a lot of commercialized roasted cashew nuts in the market, a step in the supermarket or grocery will confirm that, but for a person who grew up going to Antipolo once a year to attend mass as a pilgrim to the Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, which is the patron saint of the city's basilica, seeing and eating good 'ol kasuy (kalamay and suman) is such a fine treat.

My pop used to work as a seaman, a chief cook in cargo ships, and most of the time, he only had a week or two of vacation in a year, that's the only time he is with us, and, I don't know if it's mere coincidences, but most of the time, he went back aboard and to work during the month of May, and for a Catholic family, it is but a tradition to go to Antipolo to ask for a kin's safe travel. I remember riding the bus somewhere in Divisoria, the regular ones without aircon, the lines of makeshift stalls of suman, kalamay, kasoy and other goodies, the crowd of people who fought nail and tooth to go inside the basilica, the McDonald's branch at the right and Jollibee at the left side (as you go out of the church), the mile-like walk to and from the bus station, the sweat, the laughter and random pictures, I wonder when our family can do that again?

So anyway, enough with that, the roasted cashew in the photos below cost 200pesos (brown paper bag, bigger than those use in street stalls selling peanuts), I know, I know, it's kinda pricey but it's still cheaper than the ones sold here in the metro. One of the workers in our fishing vessel originally lives in Antipolo so everytime he goes to visit his family, we would ask him to buy us some goodies, we usually give him 500pesos tapos sya na bahala kung ano bibilhin nya pasalubong sa amin.

But, I wish, I can go on a roadtrip soon, I wanna see Hinulugang Taktak again :)

Tayo na sa Antipolo at doo'y maligo tayo sa... sa, sa Hinulugang Tak-taktak...

Pizza and Pasta Happy Days at Italianni's

Nasabi ko na ba na sira ang digicam ko, di ko pa sya napapagawa and I don't even know kung worth it pa ba sya ipagawa (bagsak na kasi ang price nya and kung masyado malaki magagastos sa repair, baka di na lang) tapos wala din ako extra money to buy a new one, if ever kasi I'm buying, I want a 2view from Samsung, para di mahirap mag-selca :P

So anyway, kaya ko lang naman nasabi yan, eh para mai-explain ko sa inyo kung bakit madalas ako mag-post ng promos ng mga dining establishments ngayon, kasi nga, wala akong camera, so I can't do food photography, oo, we dine out, oo, I cook, pero di ko naman pwede ikwento na lang sa inyo yung mga yun ng wala man lang pictures di ba, so, tiis-tiis muna ko.

As long as it's food related, okay lang naman di ba? Pagdasal nyo masolusyunan na problema ko, thank you.

Moving on...

Kung pizza and pasta lover kayo, eto ang promo na para sa inyo! Kita-kits sa Italianni's!

KFC's Kung Pao Supreme Rice Bowl and a Bucket of Fries

Just a quick post, I'll edit this later, I have to get going while the sun is still up maya-maya uulan na naman, have to complete my son's school supplies list before school starts on Tuesday. Later, okay!

Hays, finally, I got the chance to edit, sorry for a week's delay. My son started school last Tuesday, he's in grade 2 but because we transferred school, he's still learning his way around the new school and slowly adapting to his new environment. He left his school friends and have to find a set of new ones and as I don't wanna put that much pressure on him, I'm backing him up in every step. No, I don't hang out in the school premises or around it, I don't know, I just lack the time to update my blogs. Pud Blag ni Ako is lucky pa nga kasi I get to post once in a while, my other blogs are left to accumulate dust and cobwebs *sigh*. In due time...

Anyway, my son's new school is littered with fast food chains - Jollibee, KFC, Chowking, Dunkin' Donuts, Mr. Donuts, a tricycle-ride away is McDonalds and a few steps away is a community mall which houses a few more eating establishments. So, the several times I went to process his transfer papers and enrollment stuff, I end up eating in a few of the establishments - and one of those is KFC.

I tried their Supreme Rice Bowl - Kung Pao, it has two chicken fillets, corn and drizzled with Kung Pao spicy Chinese sauce atop a bowl of rice, it costs 100pesos with a regular-sized drink. For 100, it is a practical choice and I can guarantee that it is filling, one tip though, if you're the type who eats lunch or dinner with an extra serving of rice, I advice you to order that extra rice instantly, and mix it in, as the rice included in the meal won't satisfy you *grins*. The sauce was too salty for my taste but aside from that, I'll give it a star.

Dunkin' Donuts Big Dunk

I went to a nearby bank a few days ago to pay some of our utility bills and, just because a Dunkin' Donuts branch is nearby it immediately became my choice for a pasalubong, hahaha. This is not the first time I'm taking a box of Big Dunk home but this is my first time blogging about it, not that there's much to say.

If we are to talk about practicality, I say go with the regular sized ones, a dozen of which cost 120 pesos which is the same as the price of a 6-piece box of Big Dunk. Another thing, Big Dunk doughnuts sort of lack in variety, the several times that I purchased, flavors were always limited to 3 or 4, unlike with the regular-sized doughnuts. Pero syempre, the curious us should give it a try at least once *wink*.

My right hand is in working condition na so I'll fix my previous post after I publish this one. Have a wet and wild Thursday everyone!

Lumpiang Sariwa

Haven't been blogging as my digital camera went kaput *sigh*, now, as an additional insult to injury, my right hand is not functioning too, I'm officially a disable until it heals :(

So, you'll let me off with a picture post right? I'll update it when I'm able, promise!
