Nanay and Tatay's Day Again!

Another March celebration?  Not really!  It was just sweldo (salary) day and as it was still, officially, Nanay and Tatay's birth month, bro and I decided to have a joint celebration of their birthday, in an effort to shroud and justify our need to eat Crispy Pata on a Monday night, hurhur!

Chinese Cuisine Month

Two months ago, I blogged about our office's second attempt at eating lunch together without any reason except for wanting to eat, well now, here's out third.  March is Chinese Cuisine Month for PIO.

First of, I, in behalf of the PIO-Navotas team, wanna thank Mickee's mom, Tita Fely for generously agreeing to cook for us (and possibly shelled out a bit more than our budget), sobrang salamat po!  Ang sarap n'yong magluto, bakit di po kayo magpa-order ng food dito sa city hall, sure po ako maraming bibili, kami lang po dito sa PIO, ilan na *smiles*.

The menu:  Pork Meat and Intestine Asado, Sweet and Sour Fish (Cream Dory), Stir Fried Clams in Black Bean Sauce and Garlic-Ginger Sauteed Clams.

"A picture tells a thousand words."

So yeah, look on people and drool!

It's Tatay's Turn!

Have I told you that my Nanay and Tatay have the same birth month?  I guess I did huh, and even if I didn't, yet, my last year's post would have more than suffice to fill in the details, right *grins*?

Anyways, we didn't had that big of a celebration, it was just us! We had our usual Sunday family dinner but we sort of prepared dishes that pops like, it was his special day afterall *winks*.

Tatay used to work as a chief cook in an international cargo ship, so imagine the gamut of dishes he had sampled and tried to create, add it to the fact that his love of food never falters.  But as we all know, age brought about ailments, whether we like it or not, and aside from the usual maintenance meds that oldies had to take, moderation or, unfortunately, sometimes a total ban from eating specific kinds of food have to be implemented.  But for his birthday, we let him have what he wants!  We bought two kilos of Lechon from Concepcion (Malabon) Market and transformed it into a Lechon Paksiw.  Sisiw lang pala magluto n'yan and believe me ang sarap ko magluto, hahaha!

March Celebrant

Photos below were from Kuya Jeff's birthday last March, let's not talk about his age, coz you know age doesn't matter naman*grins*.  His birthday fell during a busy week (Grad Week), so it was a rush and on-the-go kind of birthday bash, he also treated us to some ice cream but as the whole PIO team were rushing from one school to another, we had no choice but to eat our ice cream on the way to wherever our destination was at that time (read: at the PIO service vehicle) and we had to do that as fast as possible, you know Navotas City is not that big of a place so we kinda arrive at our destination in just a blink and snap, hurhur!

Easter Egg Hunt

We had our yearly celebration of Easter and we (our family) were tasked to make and decorate the Easter eggs.  Photo below was the result of our (hubby, son, brother and moi) collective efforts, but mostly it was hubby's, we're not all born artist you know!

We were supposed to start early morning but  because we're us (nocturnal beings and all), we were able to start an hour before lunch, hurhur!  We'll make Grandfather Time proud *grins*.

Calm after the storm, believe me it was pandemonium, I don't think anything in Tita Belle's house was left untouched.  They were looking for eggs like they'll win a million bucks for it, that's how game (and competitive) our family is!  Fun, fun, fun!

Finally!

Finally, a McDonald's branch in our little city!  It opened its doors to the public yesterday, May 2, and it was a massive success, it was like a declared McDo day in Navotas, everyone and anyone were seen falling in line claiming their tickets, waiting for their orders or just plain waiting around for a vacant seat, eating their McChicken meal and licking their sundaes and McFlurrys.  It was a sight to see, lalo na siguro sa may-ari ng McDo - Navotas, siguro puro peso sign ang nakikita ng mata nya, hahaha.

They had a grand opening promo, a ticket that cost 150 pesos will enable you to claim a McChicken meal (1pc chicken and rice plus a tetra pack orange drink), a classic toy (stocks Happy Meal toy) and an umbrella (with McDonald's logo).

Keyk Serye: Cupcakes (Little Rob's Cake Haus)

Little Rob's Cake Haus is one of Navotas' little foodie treasure, they specialized in cupcakes, as in you can drop by their shop and eat to your hearts desire (as long as you have the money to spend *lol*) as you'll be welcomed by an array of cupcake flavors and variants.  They also do personalized cakes and mini cakes, but as the term personalized denotes, you have to place your order a few days prior to whatever event you're celebrating and needing that cake for *grins*.  At present, they also serve milk and fruit teas, sandwiches, fries and nachos, among other stuff ( I don't really know as I didn't read the whole counter menu, I'm lazy like that, hurhur!).

Keyk Serye: Brazo de Mercedes (KG's Kitchen)

No. 10!

KG's Kitchen doesn't have a website that I can link to this post or where I can lift some product description, so yeah, boohoo *lol*!

All I know is that they have minute shops and/or kiosk around, mainly in SM malls, but their first and flagship store is in Tiendesitas.  Their tagline is 'Eat Desserts First!' and they vow to sell only premium desserts.

Featured product is KG's Kitchen's Brazo de Mercedes, a pastry made of sheets of soft meringue rolled around a custard filling, a half roll cost 180 pesos.  They also offer it sugar-free, of course for a higher pricetag, 240 pesos.

Verdict?  It's not too sweet, which is my biggest dilemma whenever I buy Brazo de Mercedes from commercialized bakeshops, so for that alone, this is a winner!  But, it would have been better if they have more branches we can visit and feast on.
