11 na si Kuya E!

I haven't been back in the food trippin' and food findin' grind yet, having a baby and rearin' one is very time-consuming, add it to the fact that I was forced to come back to work earlier than I wanted and planned to.  But I have several posts waiting to be published, with birthdays and holidays, and feasts and celebrations.

Here's Kuya E's 11th birthday celebration.

Twice the Fun!

By the number of times I had posted birthday celebrations of colleagues here in my blog this year alone, I assumed you already deduced that we do love to celebrate each others natal day.  Let me enumerate why:  first, there's free food, whether it's home-cooked or ordered someplace, whether there's aplenty or just enough to satisfy a normal person's appetite (I am the standard here, hehe); second, our boss never fails to surprise us with a cake (it's a little late sometimes but she always make an effort *grins*), so the celebrant can blow his/her cake and throw a wish in the universe, but more than that (yes, I'm sort of selfish *tongue out*) we all can enjoy a slice of that sweet treat; third, we get to spend an hour or two bonding and hanging out, free from work and the daily struggle of office politics, phew (for me, reason number 3 is the best!).

Tatay Ilyo's 60th!

My one and only (ehem!) father-in-law celebrated his 60th birthday last May 31st and his children with a little help from his relatives and friends threw him a surprise birthday swimming party.

Photos below was the buffet lovingly cooked by Dete Irene and financed by Imelda, kudos to the both of them!

Happy looking / salivating *grins*.

Lechon Ulo by Mang Ruping's
Apple and cheese slices were added to make it a bit more food porn-worthy, hehe.  Truth:  the accompanying apple wouldn't fit the roasted pig's mouth, nagka-crack 'yong mukha nya kapag pinipilit namin ibuka kaya sliced apple na lang ang nangyari, hehe.

B-day at Home

One of Tatay Ilyo's earlier birthday celebration, it was just us with Ninong Boy and Tito Tony, oh I think Gene-gene was also there.

We shared two kinds of pancit - Bihon and Luglog (both homemade), two kinds of puto - Pandan and Salted Egg (bought from Malabon Public Market, hehe) and two viands - Pork and Tofu in Black Beans and Lumpiang Shanghai (cooked by Dete).

It was a fun and filling night!  That's why I love birthdays, you get to eat until you can't anymore *lol*.

March Celebrant

Photos below were from Kuya Jeff's birthday last March, let's not talk about his age, coz you know age doesn't matter naman*grins*.  His birthday fell during a busy week (Grad Week), so it was a rush and on-the-go kind of birthday bash, he also treated us to some ice cream but as the whole PIO team were rushing from one school to another, we had no choice but to eat our ice cream on the way to wherever our destination was at that time (read: at the PIO service vehicle) and we had to do that as fast as possible, you know Navotas City is not that big of a place so we kinda arrive at our destination in just a blink and snap, hurhur!

I know it's late and all, but hey, a wish is a wish right? Happy birthday Kuya Jeff and I wish you all the best in life, sana masundan pa si Jaja ng isang Junior, hehe!

Keyk Serye: Triple Chocolate Roll (Red Ribbon)

Keyk Serye No. 8, let the rolls begin *grins*!

Red Ribbon's Triple Chocolate Roll is tagged as triple chocolate goodness - moist, chocolate chiffon with fudgy chocolate filling topped with rich chocolate icing and chocolate toppings form the chocolate roll (as per their website).

A whole roll would cost you more than 300 pesos and a half roll would cost a bit more than 150 pesos.  No specific prices from this blogger, one because I'm old and getting older by the minute, I tend to forget stuff, and two, I don't generally keep receipts and take note of prices, it makes me wanna hold on to my hard-earned money more and not spend a dime on anything, nyahahaha!

I know most of us common people have tried the Triple Chocolate Rolls but the uncommon ones might not have yet, so I'm trying to cajole them to give it a try, hurhur!

Keyk Serye: Mocha Crumble (Red Ribbon)

Cake No. 5!

Described as Mocha chiffon cake bursting with rich mocha cream, filled and topped with crunchy chocolate crumble.

A regular-sized one would cost you around 600 pesos while the junior size is priced at around 350 pesos.

Another member of my top ten list of favorite (and accessible) cakes.  Though, I like the coffee crumble better, they don't offer that anymore noh? *pouts*

Keyk Serye: Mango Cake (Red Ribbon)

No. 2 in the series :)

Described as moist white chiffon layered with light mango cream filling ang icing with real mango bits, topped with luscious mango slices.

Mango is one of my favorit-est cake flavor, many bakeshop and cake haus have their own versions of Mango Cake but a few stand out, I know you know who / what I am talking about *smiles amusingly*.

A regular-sized one will cost you around 600 pesos while the junior size is priced at more or less 350 pesos.

Go on and give it a try, I know you want to *grins*!

Keyk Serye: Dulce de Leche (Red Ribbon)

Now, because March is my parents' (yes, both mom and dad) birthday month (and because my cake / rolls photos are filing up and my external drive is near exploding *grins*) I decided on having a cake series.  Wala lang, blog ko ito kaya walang basagan ng trip, hehe.

Some of the photos you'll see are as old as prehistoric times while others are as new as a newborn baby, hmm, I just think a disclaimer is in order, in case you wonder and ponder *smiles*.

First in the list is Red Ribbon's Dulce de Leche (yup, just like my mom's b-day cake), one of the bakeshop's round cake offerings, the regular-sized ones cost 600 pesos while the junior size cost 400 pesos.

According to their website, it is soft layers of white chiffon cake with custard cream filling, enrobed in luscious sweetened milk and caramel icing. Covered in toasted chiffon crumbs and topped with a frosted caramel.

pardon the pic, it's the best I can do with an ailing digicam *tongue out*
One of my favorites, but hey, all cakes are my favorites *grins*!

Surprise, Surprise!

We surprised Nanay with a simple birthday celebration last Tuesday, March 18 when in fact, her birthday fell on Monday, the 17th of the month.  We, sort of, made it look like we (bro and I) were short on funds so we can't even buy her a birthday cake, she's already immune to us making a fuzz on her day so we decided to give it a little twist, a bit different for this year.

March Celebrant

The only birthday celebrant (on our office) this month, Kuya Nestor, may you have an abundance of blessings this year, love, happiness, health, fortune, if may gusto ka pa idagdag, lista mo lang.  God bless kuya!

Macaroon - Building Schools

I think my title is quite fitting, a macaroon-building school, not literally though, you don't expect these macaroons to suddenly grow arms, legs and body and begin putting bricks and shoveling cement, because that would be scary *grins*.

I've watched Apl d. Ap's TV commercial a couple of times and I was intrigued, I searched around the web and discovered that he is an active sponsor and endorser of good public schooling / education.  Good job man!

So, what do a commoner like me can do to help, simple, buy as many macaroons as I can, for 50 pesos a pack, that would be a breeze.

Red Ribbon's version of macaroons taste a bit creamier than that of its rival brand, it was okay but I prefer my macaroon to have a bit more coconut shavings, I'm old school like that.  But to help build schools, I'll gladly suffer the ecstasy of eating Red Ribbon's macaroons.

E's New Favorite

Note:  First two photos were taken without a flash, the last one was without.

My son's favorite new thing, er, food - Red Ribbon's Chocolate Crinkles.  A pack of 3 cost 25 pesos, good for merienda and baon, at least my son makes me think so, hurhur!

E's 9th! (Part 1)

Super late post:  E's 9th birthday celeb at his school, we didn't really have anything prepared as his birthday really falls on the 24th.  We were vying for cupcakes but as our local cupcake shop doesn't have enough left for 30 persons at that time, we sort of had no choice but to go with a Red Ribbon dedication cake.

Mocha dedication cake comes in three sizes, photo below is a regular-sized one and it cost approximately Php500.00

Day 2 at the Crib

Birthday celeb no. 2, this time, it's my real natal day *smiles*.  I celebrated it with my family, of course.

We bought to go goodies, you know me, I'm not the so-domesticated kind and I'm totally lazy *grins*.  We had Baby's Crispy Pata (BCP), as in the real one (story will be provided some other time) with steaming white rice, syempre para carbs and protein galore.  Then we doused the cholesterol with Veggie Salad (lettuce, cucumber, onion, tomatoes and commercialized salad dressing) and my very own Spaghetti (hotdog lang ang halo para sa baby boy ko).  Then there was cake and ice cream, simple and fun!

Tita Belle's Birthday Celebration

Tita Belle's __th birthday celebration, it was a simple feast prepared by her lovely children.  We brought the kakanin and shrimp pasta, but that is not the reason why they are on top of the photo list, the blogging platform-blogspot just arranged it like so, no manipulation whatsoever from the blogger, hehe.

My first entry for Food Trip Fiday after a very, very long hibernation.

Note:  Please don't mind the date and time on the pics, the date/time setter of our digicam is all warped out.

Tiramisu Meltdown for Mother's Day

Had another chance to join FTF and FF, two weeks in a row and I'm not late :)

Photo below was given to my mom as a Mother's Day treat, she doesn't have anything in particular that she likes and as we weren't that prepared either, we just went with a cake - I guess no one really goes wrong with cakes as presents on occasions. We bought her a regular-sized Tiramisu Meltdown, it is a heavenly three-layer cake of choco chiffon and cream cheese filling, dappled with a hint of coffee liquor (lifted from Red Ribbon website); don't mind the candle, my son's sort of crazy about blowing candles so we do let him have his fun. A mom's got to do what she has to do, right?

Me loves coffee but I'm not that into rum (I think the liquor on the cake is rum, not sure though) so I have mix feelings about the cake. And yes, I'm posting about a Mother's Day delight after two months *grins*, a lazy bunny will always be a lazy bunny *tongue out*.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Birthday One

My nanay celebrated her --th birthday last March 17, we had an early dinner at Hap Chan - Harbour Square but I kind of, sort of, stupidly left my camera and cellphone at home, so I had no way of taking any pics *sigh*. I guess, you have no choice but take my word for it, the food was great as always, Hap Chan never disappoints (I sound like a biased marketing rep, hahaha).

Anyways, photos below were the pansit given away to neighbors (you know, the tradition of cooking noodles for long life and sharing it with others), the cake that my son forced my mom to buy so she can blow the candle, but it turned out, teddy bear was the one who liked to do the candle blowing, and the ice cream that he picked, for his personal consumption, hahaha. Love of food runs in our blood.
