Family Celebration

I celebrated my --th birthday last month and I happened to celebrate it thrice with different people - family, friends and co-workers.  The first one happened on my natal day, spot on, hehe.  My family and I shared a simple thanksgiving dinner *smiles*, oh and I received my gift early, active, little Baby A on my tummy.

Sweets aren't allowed but as it is my birthday, a cake is in order, I wasn't allowed to touch it though, they just let me blow a single candle to have my wish.  Pwede na rin, hehe.

July Celebrant

Told you, we had two celebrants this month, this time it's all about Mickee's lunch treat.

He made our tummy perfectly content on a Monday, his actual natal day, and we bought him his cake on a Tuesday, the financier was absent so there was a minor setback, hehe.

Mango Chantilly Cake from Goldilocks

Three viands - Lumpiang Shanghai, Pickled Pork and Liver and Chicken Feet Asado, one noodle dish - Pancit Canton and the ever-present Yang Chow Fried Rice were more than enough to feed us to near ecstasy.  As usual Tita Fely showcased her awesome cooking skills, ala masterchef *grins*!

Cravings: Goldilocks Classic Polvoron

According to Goldilocks (as I read from the packaging *grins*), Goldilocks Classic Polvoron is an all-time favorite polvoron made with premium, creamy milk powder and Goldilocks' secret recipe.

According to me, I love Goldilocks Classic Polvoron!  Hiniram ko ung line sa kapatid ni Anne Curtis *grins*.  I loved it then, I love it now and I'll surely love it until I can't stomach any kind of polvoron anymore, hahaha!

Other flavors exist - Cookies and Cream, Ube, Cashew, Coffee Crumble, Pinipig - but as a product tagline once let us believed, 'the original is always the best!'

Cravings: Egg Pie

I am an egg pie enthusiast, I don't know when my love for egg pies started but I think it goes way back to my childhood.  You can even ask my mom and she'll blatantly tell you how I used to hug all the egg pie slices to myself and how I can't wait to eat a slice everytime I see egg pies, whether it be a commercialized brand or something brought from our neighborhood bakery, even up to now, haha.  She used to tell me that I am an egg pie monster...

But because pregnant women can get anything they want (most of the time), ergo, I can have the whole egg pie to myself... oh, the perks of motherhood, haha!

Keyk Serye: Ube Macapuno Roll (Goldilocks)

As described in their website:  Ube Macapuno Roll is ube-flavored sponge cake filled with vanilla butter icing.  The whole cake is iced with ube butter icing.  The surface is decorated with rich macapuno strings topped with rossettes and violet chocolate toppers.  The whole cake is sprinkled with colored vermicelli. 

A whole roll is priced at approximately 350 pesos while the half roll is priced at almost 200 pesos.

Keyk Serye: Black Forest (Goldilocks)

Cake no. 4!

Described as layers of rich chocolate cake filled with cherry cream.  The whole cake is iced with whipped cream and the side is completely covered with chocolate shavings.  The top is laced with whole cherries on top of cream rosettes.

You'll have to shed at least 600 pesos to buy a whole regular-sized round cake or at least 350 pesos to get the junior size.

Not a favorite among children but an all-out bestseller among adults.  Caution though, you better consume the whole thing fast or the cake will taste like it's drizzled with rum when the cherry sap / extract begins to mix with the cake.

Who can say no to a Black Forest cake?

Keyk Serye: Choco Mousse (Goldilocks)

As per their website's description, Goldilocks Choco Mousse is a rich chocolate mousse on moist chocolate butter cake and iced with freshly whipped cream.  The top is laced with layers of cream border.  The whole cake is drizzled with chocolate ganache and chocolate vermicelli.  Top of the cake is sprinkled with chocolate chips.

Regular-sized round premium cakes would cost you a bit more than 500 pesos while the smaller versions cost a bit more than 300 pesos.

I'm not really a fan as I like my cakes / pastries filling and sort of heavy on my belly *lol*, but as my son and brother are, the sight of Choco Mousse, the whole or just crumbs, is common in our household.

Goldilocks' Pinipig Polvoron

Have I told you lately that I love you... hmm, how about I rephrase that... Have I told you (lately) that I love polvoron?  I think I did, more than you'll ever want me to, right *grins*?

Granny's 81st!

Granny past away 11 years ago but that doesn't stop us from remembering and celebrating her birthday.  We weren't able to have a Christmas Party last 2013 so Granny's party became a birthday celebration con family reunion of sorts.  It was Kuya Toti's (uncle by my mom's side) idea *pointing at the round cake below* of letting us know that we're having a family reunion, too *lol*.

It was a night of fun and merry-making and it feels sooooo good seeing my cousins and nieces and nephews and uncles and aunts again, most of us live in the same barangay, but we seldom see each other, life and stuff just always gets in the way *grins*.

Goldilocks' Ube Polvoron

Pasalubong from one of my dearest friend, naglambing kasi ako, nag-mall kasi sya at dadaan sya sa office so sabi ko pasalubunguan nya ako ng polvoron ng goldilocks, malas lang di ko pala gusto ang ube flavor na polvoron, hehe... sana next time, cookies and cream na lang, weee!

E's 9th! (Part 2)

Still on E's birthday celebrations, syempre, another late post *grins*.

His birthday cake as the clock struck twelve, we just bought him a junior Choco Mousse from Goldilocks and hid it in Nanay's room.  We let him sleep and woke him up at 12 midnight, he was kind of disoriented and irritated when he finally arise from his favorite banig (sleeping mat woven/made of native materials) but he gave us a bit of a smile (or is it a smirk?) when we finally cajoled him to blow the number nine candle out.

A petite Choco Mousse cost a little bit more than Php300 while the bigger one sells for more than Php500.

Late Post: Another Party

Almost three months ago, I blogged about my nanay's 1st birthday celebration on her 50th, with a side promise that I'll post the other one sometime this year, well dear friends, that time has come *raising hand in jubilation while saying yahoo!*

We surprised my parents (luckily, they have the same birth month) with a simple celebration at Tita Belle's house, as there are lots of kids in the fam and tita has a pool waiting to be dipped in, we decided on a swimming party, lucky us *grins*.

E's Simple B-day Celeb

To those who knew me, at least, even a little, would have to know that my son celebrates his birthday every 24th of December, thus seeing the title means that this post is almost nearing its anniversary *grins* and because you already knew me, you won't feel even a bit of surprise and will just shrug your shoulders and say, "it's a late post, nothing new", hahaha, a very palusible scenario, right? :))

A Feast, Almost!

We (I mean the admin and officers of Batch 90) were supposed to have another meeting last May 6 but due to some unavoidable circumstances, it was canceled the same day it was supposed to happen, so I together with another classmate already bought and prepared what we would bring to the event, it was a pity that our grade school friends didn't get to taste what we bought and cooked but other people were happy as they were the ones who reaped the good fortune *grins*.

This Almond Java Mousse was from Gina, we didn't get to taste it but her officemates did *grins* and based on their FB comments, it looks like they had fun eating it. Goldilocks described it as a two layered moist chocolate sponge cake with rich java mousse filling. The whole cake is iced with mocha butter icing and coated with coffee ganash and sprinkled with sliced almond nuts.

Birthday Two

My tatay's birthday fall on the same month as my mom, exactly 9 days later, if you want the numbers. He just cooked some pansit, as usual, to give away to the neighbors, we bought a liter of Nestle Sorbetes Espesyal - Cookies and Cream and a whole Chocolate Roll from Goldilocks. The ice cream is not that yummy but for 125pesos, I guess one shouldn't expect much, the chocolate roll tasted the same but my tatay's pansit is better than my nanay's, hahaha, don't tell on me, okay!

Tatay also prepared other goodies pero pang-pulutan eh, nasabi ko na ba na may pagka-alcoholic ang ama ko, pwahahaha. I didn't took pictures, I hate it when my father drinks and I hate his drinking friends more *sigh*.

We had lunch the next day at Max's, I didn't brought my camera as we went there right after church but a cousin did, let's just pray he'll give me my damn copy before the world ends.
