New Year, New Beginnings

Ahoy mate! (choz! :p)

Just wanna give you guys a heads up, Pud Blag ni Ako is undergoing a major renovation (napansin nyo naman siguro, hehe), since this blog started in 2011 you have seen the same colorful and funky-in-its-own way lay-out and design (na customized lang from blogger, hahaha) but as I've begin to dedicate a little more time into blogging again these past few months, I realized a change is but necessary, something more mature would be nice as I am aging fast, I don't even know how to catch up *grins*.  And as I don't have any idea how to make my own, I even forgot how to insert codes in HTML *sad face*, so the clueless me have no choice but to pick one of blogger's customized designs and lay-out yet again, but I'm fine with it though,I'm actually loving the dark and broody look of Pud Blag ni Ako at the moment.

I started tweaking and making changes a few weeks ago, if you had passed by and wasted time reading a few of my posts, I know you sort of see the changes in my writing, hmm, how do I explain it, I sort of learned to share a few more details on what I'm blogging about, I sort of cared more.  Okay, okay, I think I'm falling in love with blogging all over again.

I may have settled with a design and lay-out but as my choice was a lot different from my previous one, I'm still currently obsessing on manually (as in one entry by another, one photo to the next) putting jump break on each and every entries and re-sizing all the photos that had ever been posted in this blog .  It may take a while as I am suffering from a swollen face due to tooth infection, and holiday vacation is supposed to be dedicated to family moments and bonding, and because laziness runs deeply in my blood *grins*.  But I'm getting there, you'll see the results in the coming days, or weeks, or months, I don't know, but I'm sure you'll see the outcome someday *lol*.

Until then, Happy Holidays peeps!

KFC Christmas Bucket Meal

I have been very vocal with my love and uncommon bias to KFC, but now more than the yummy food offerings and their slurp-worthy signature gravy that I had grown up to, the fast food chain is making an effort to help the victims of Yolanda by donating 5 pesos with every purchase of an 8-piece Christmas Bucket Meal, I say go KFC! What more can you ask for, you'll get to feast on their original and/or hot and crispy chicken, 4 regular fixins, steamed rice and drinks plus an 8" moist chocolate cake, and you'll be able to help to feed the hungry survivors of super typhoon Yolanda, unless of course, I can persuade them to drop their prices a bit lower *tongue out*.

8-pc Christmas Bucket Meal, from left to right:  KFC signature gravy, regular fixins - macaroni salad, coleslaw, mashed potato, bucket of chicken and 4 orders of rice, 4 regular Coke, Christmas cake

regular and hot & crispy

We have the privilege to celebrate and enjoy the holidays but in our own little way, may we learn to share the blessings that we have to those who need it most.

I'm not in any way related to KFC nor am I paid to write this post, I'm just a big fan, but if they'll tap me (someday) to do so, I'll welcome them with open arms *lol*.

Bumble Bee in a Tub

I recently blogged about Magnolia's Black and White Classic Medley, now the spotlight is turned to their other flavor Bumble Bee, a combination of classic mango and caramel  ice cream swirl.

I know I've mentioned once or once too many that I love mango-flavored ice cream so me picking this tub up in our friendly grocery store was no brainer.  And it didn't disappoint, it was worth every penny.

A tub cost 120 pesos and it's almost available anywhere and everywhere. Go and give it a try *smiles*.

Honeyed Biscochio

Biscotti (coffee bread) isn't the only preferred partner of coffee, whether it be brewed or 3-in-1, we Pinoy have our own perfect coffee combination and it sounds like biscotti too, hurhur... I am talking about Biscocho / Biskotso.  As far as I know biscocho can be found in every nook and corner bakery in the whole Philippine archipelago, but they do differ in taste, depending of course on the ingredients and how it was made.

Special Biscocho (photo below) is a product of Liza's Bakeshop, a popular bakery / pasalubong center in Bulacan, its not like the usual biscocho wherein the bread is toasted and then sprinkled with a liberal dose of sugar, Liza's version of biscocho is regular bread drenched in honey and then toasted to perfection (maybe not so, hehe).  A healthier, not-so-sweet and not-that-messy-when-your-eating (read: crumbs and sugar falling on the table / floor) option to the usual biscocho.

Pizza Here, Pizza There

Have I mentioned that a branch of Ever Supermarket opened near my workplace, well they did *toothy smile*, and one of those kiosk that opened along with them is El Bonito's, an up and coming food cart pizza franchise.

You can call it craving at first sight, it was really my first time seeing the brand and I really did felt the urge and the need to taste it.

They retail their pizza at 25 pesos per slice and/or 200 pesos per box, you can choose from three variants - plenty-o pepperoni, ham sweet ham hawaiian style and very bacon.  Photo below were of the latter two.

Goldilocks' Ube Polvoron

Pasalubong from one of my dearest friend, naglambing kasi ako, nag-mall kasi sya at dadaan sya sa office so sabi ko pasalubunguan nya ako ng polvoron ng goldilocks, malas lang di ko pala gusto ang ube flavor na polvoron, hehe... sana next time, cookies and cream na lang, weee!

Pine's Cashew Tarts

I was at rest for a few days (I'm not sure if it's called kinetic or static energy) not because I was busy or sick or any other reason that makes sense, I was just lazy *tongue out*.

Photos below were of Pines' Cashew Tart, bite-sized goodness that all sweet-lovers will surely adore.  I know, I did!  A pack of 16 (I think) cost 90 pesos.

Meet Ms. Caramella

We went window shopping last weekend in SM San Lazaro, yup window (and door) shopping, yun lang ang kaya gawin eh, walang anda *grins*.

As usual, a trip the mall won't be complete without a visit to one of my son's favorite eating ground, he's pick last Sunday was Karate Kid.  While they ate and fill their stomachs, I sat and drink my Caramel Milk Tea, aptly and cutely named Caramella, just look at Ms. Caramella's picture, ain't she a pretty?

E's New Favorite

Note:  First two photos were taken without a flash, the last one was without.

My son's favorite new thing, er, food - Red Ribbon's Chocolate Crinkles.  A pack of 3 cost 25 pesos, good for merienda and baon, at least my son makes me think so, hurhur!

Meet Bibingka and Bibingkinita

Christmas is just around the corner, as in there's no way, it'll be postponed, hurhur!  Aside from the shining, shimmering Christmas lights and lanterns that you can see hanging from each and every houses in your community and the feel of December air in your skin, you won't deny the fast-approaching season of gift-giving and no-to-diet-for the time being with the smell of delicious Pinoy delicacies wafting in the air, tickling your sense of smell and pumping up your cravings.

I passed by a bibingka (one of the staple Christmas street foods) stand as I made my way home last Saturday evening, work was draining and giving in to bibingka temptation was a luxury I decided to let myself indulge in.

Pizza, Pizza, Pizza

The newest pizza craze in my workplace, it doesn't boast of anything extraordinary, actually, it's as ordinary as you can get, remember Pizza Stop way back then, when we were still satisfied with just a dough, catsup, cheese and ham bits, well, Aaliyah's Pizza is as simple and uncomplicated as that.  I think, its charm lies on its branches being near and it being super affordable.  Prices per box ranges from 59 to 79 pesos, depending on the variant / flavor that you'll order.

After Work Dinner at Adobo Connection

This was taken during one of those days when one just felt suffocated and sooo stressed out at work that immediately going home wasn't an option because you know you'll just be a monster wife or monster mom to your family members.

I together with two officemates went to a nearby mall, walked around, hanged out and ate dinner.  We decided on Adobo Connection as we three haven't tried it yet, I ordered Lola's Classic Chicken Adobo (the blurry pic down there), while my officemates both had Fish and Tofu Meal, both meals comes with soup and unlimited serving of rice, which we didn't avail, not much of a rice-eater here *smiles*.  As we were to wait for our food to be prepared, I decided on having their Ube/Flan Turon to share and nibble on, it was too oily for my taste though so it remained untouch after a bite or two *pouts*, but their adobo was yum so I'll gladly come back and try the rest of  their menu if and when given the chance.

Selecta Christmas Flavors

Alam ko napanood nyo na ito at natakam din kayo, hehe...

One of Selecta's Christmas flavors - Ube Keso, well, as always with Selecta the products on their commercial looks better than the actual ice cream that you'll find in the market, in this case, the cheese on the commercial were super generous compared to the real one.

Anyway, highway, it was affordable and a flavor I can share with my son, so, I'm fine with it.  A 750ml tub will cost you 120 pesos, the bigger one sells at 240.

Pizza Hut Delivery and Us

If there's a food chain (with delivery service) contest wherein the one with the greatest number of regular customers / avid fan will win, our family will definitely be included on Pizza Hut's list.  If you ever go and waste time asking our neighbors of which delivery motorcycle they see the most parked at our gate, I think they'll answer as one - Pizza Hut.

I don't know where the fanaticism roots, don't look at me, I only learnt to appreciate Pizza Hut when I was in high school, I used to snob any pizza with lots of trimmings and toppings, I'm a simple girl who wanted her pizza with ham and cheese like that of Pizza Stop *grins*.  Maybe it was because the husband is a voracious pizza eater, or maybe because we introduced our son to the taste and flavor of pizza at a very young age, or maybe because we just felt sure that whatever we ordered at Pizza Hut it will never be wasted, I mean, there's already an assurance (which we don't have to vocalized) that at least one or two or three people in the family will be happy and satisfied with the delivery.

Oh well, what I'm rattling about doesn't even matter, hurhur!

Lunch Before the Attack

Viands and rice were cooked by mom, photos were taken by me, hur.  This was taken last Feast of San Roque, an annual celebration in our community, we were supposed to have lunch at my uncle's house but as we were too lazy to walk under the scorching heat of the afternoon sun, we decided to delay going a few hours and settled on some home-cooked, sprinkled with motherly love, meals.

It was our lunch before the food attack, fiesta ba naman eh *grins*.

One Saturday Afternoon

I do work a lot during weekends, one of my occupational hazards *smiles*.  But everytime I get to stay home, I make it as worthwhile as I could, for my family and for myself.

One Saturday afternoon, this was what I decided to do, street food tripping, with my mother, my son and husband.  Yumminess!

Street food galore, clockwise from top:  Captain's Burger (the 10 peso, buy 1 take 1 kind of burgers), grilled chicken intestine (commonly known as IUD, isaw, bituka ng manok), Selecta Overload ice cream - Chocolate Chip flavor, Ensaymada and Kababayan.

Ghana Extra Cacao Mild

Another loot from South Korea, courtesy of my cousin, that's why I love her this big *arms wide apart*.  Just like always, I don't have information about the below pictured chocolate, all I know is it is a product of Lotte Confectionery, Ghana is one of their brand names, and it is made of / from extra mild cacao, or at least, that's how I took it, hurhur!

I have mentioned that my son prefer the plain kind of chocolates like Hershey's bars, right? Well, this one sits right in his taste buds, they became instant best buds (love the pun and the rhyme *grins*).

Magnolia Black & White Ice Cream

Flash Alert, Flash Alert!  Sorry, I forgot how flashy a picture would look with a flash, hahaha!

Magnolia Ice Cream is one of the pioneer ice cream maker / producers in the country, remember Magnolia Ice Cream House in Cubao, I think adults of my age had one or more fun memories of the aforementioned ice cream parlor when they were young.

I recently tried their Classic Medley ice creams (dubbed as such because of two mixed flavors in one tub) and may I say that it was worth every dime.  We tried their Black and White, a combination of Classic Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream Swirl, a tub cost a little bit more that a hundred pesos.

Magnolia Ice Cream Medley - Black and White

Next post will be about another flavor, watch out *grins*.
